Nursery & Reception

At Lift Beacon, we believe all children should have the best possible start to their education. We ensure this in both our Nursery and Reception by having access to a progressive curriculum and language rich learning environments.

Nursery & Reception

Starting Nursery & Reception is an exciting milestone for children and parents alike. We aim to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible. Our team will work closely with you to help your child settle in and feel secure in their new environment.

At Lift Beacon, our early years curriculum is carefully designed to provide a rich, engaging, and developmentally appropriate foundation that fully meets the statutory requirements of the EYFS framework. We focus on promoting all areas of learning and development, encompassing both the prime and specific areas, while responding to the individual interests, strengths, and needs of each child.

By balancing child-led exploration with purposeful adult-led activities, our curriculum nurtures curiosity, independence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. We create safe, inclusive, and stimulating environments—both indoors and outdoors—where every child feels valued and confident to explore and take risks.

Through high-quality teaching and continuous reflection, our curriculum ensures that children build strong foundations for future learning and are well prepared for a smooth transition into later education.

What does my child need to wear?

Children attending our nursery are encouraged to wear a school uniform to help them feel part of the school community. We recommend simple, comfortable clothing and easy-to-manage footwear to support independence. A spare set of clothes should be kept on your child’s peg in case a change is needed. Please visit our uniform page to find out more.

What will the children be learning?

Our Nursery & Reception follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years. We focus on developing key skills through play, exploration and active learning. The EYFS is built around these prime areas of learning:

Adventure, learning, and fun await!

Safety and security

Your child’s safety is our priority. All gates and entrances are secured during the day, and children are always supervised during play and learning activities. Staff are trained in safeguarding procedures, and two members of staff will be present at dismissal times.
